Mru and Essex university

Mru and Essex university

I will compare Mykolas Romeris University and university of Essex. I’ve decided to compare these two universities because I was thinking about joining that institution in United Kingdom, but stayed in Lithuania and left in MRU. For bachelor degree in MRU there is just one specific area - psychology. It is general program, with all types of psychology program involved. After graduate it, most of the students decides what specific area to chose, but before that in learning process they meet all kinds of psychology branches. In university of Essex you can choose three programs: BA Psychology (focus on cognitive psychology, social psychology, perception, and neuropsychology) Qualification is Bachelor of Arts. Second: BSc psychology (focus on cognitive psychology, social psychology, perception, and neuropsychology), but then you graduate this program you get the qualification of Bachelor of Science. these two programs do not develop expertise with particular areas of specialization like in MRU, but our students have much more different areas like cognitive psychology, social psychology, neuropsychology, evolution psychology, psychopathology, pedagogical psychology, health psychology, clinical psychology, cultural and organizations psychology etc. The third suggested area in psychology of bachelor degree in university of Essex is more particular. It is called BSc social psychology and sociology. Qualification - Bachelor of Science. BSc Social Psychology and Sociology covers a variety of topics and issues in social psychology and sociology, using diverse approaches from both disciplines. It includes dual modules in psychology and sociology as well as further applied social psychology modules of clinical, managerial and other practical relevance. With this course it is also possible to fast track to a nursing or medical qualification, although it also offers the flexibility to seek other careers in psychology, health promotion, health services management, social work, non-governmental and voluntary organizations or teaching amongst other. All three disciplines are graduated after three years of learning. That is big difference from Lithuania, cause in MRU, VU or any other university here student gets his under graduated degree after 4 years of learning. Prices: MRU (for one year) ~ 1000£ and 3290£ in Essex. I think that the price is really important. In both universities the price isn't very cheap, but both of them provide an opportunity to get government-funded payment for you degree. Also both universities offer government loans. But in Essex during the learning years, if you are student from Europe and get good degrees from lectures you get big student grant in your invested money buy off. So for example per three years person invests 9870£, University of Essex gives 6000£ scholarship (1000£ each semester) for students from Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Poland. So in the end you will have paid just 3870£ so it's almost the same price like in Mykolas Romeris university.

So, I like these two universities and that is my short review about them :)
